Finding a 24-hour gym is about more than opening hours. The right gym should fit your daily routine, have the equipment you need and make its membership terms easy to understand. Use this checklist when comparing gyms in Melbourne.
1. Choose a location you can use regularly
A gym near home, work or your usual commute can make regular training easier. Check the route at the times you expect to visit, including parking, public transport and access to the entrance.
- How long will it take to get there before or after work?
- Is the entrance easy to find after dark?
- Does the location suit your weekend routine as well?
Top Gym has five Melbourne locations: Brunswick, Coburg, Knoxfield, Women’s Coburg and Women’s Werribee. Visit our gym locations page to compare the options and find the correct address.
2. Understand access and support
Being open 24/7 does not necessarily mean a gym has staff on site around the clock. Before joining, check how entry works, how to contact the team and what to do if you need help outside staffed hours.
- Does entry use an app or access key?
- What should you do if you cannot get in?
- Where are the emergency information and exits?
Top Gym members use the GymMaster member app for access and membership management. Check the joining instructions and set up your access before your first visit. If you have questions, contact Top Gym.
3. Check the equipment for your training
Look beyond a long list of facilities. Consider the equipment you expect to use each week and how busy it is at your preferred training time.
- Are there suitable cardio machines, free weights and strength equipment?
- Is there enough space for your planned exercises?
- Are the equipment and training areas clean and well maintained?
Facilities and coaching arrangements vary between gyms. Check the specific location before assuming that classes, pools, saunas or personal training are included. For coaching enquiries at Top Gym, see our personal training page.
4. Find an atmosphere that suits you
Visit at a time you are likely to train so you can judge the space, noise level and number of people using the equipment. A welcoming environment and respectful members can make a difference to your experience.
If you prefer a women’s gym, Top Gym has locations in Coburg and Werribee. See our women’s gyms for details.
5. Compare the full membership terms
Compare the total cost and conditions, including any joining fees, minimum term, cancellation process and access restrictions. For an introductory offer, check both the initial price and the ongoing payments after the offer ends.
- Is the membership paid per visit, weekly or upfront?
- Which locations can you use?
- How do you pause or cancel?
- Does a trial continue automatically into a paid membership?
Top Gym’s current options are listed on our membership page. Select your gym and review the price and conditions in GymMaster before signing up.
6. Try the gym before deciding
If a trial is available, use it to check the equipment, entry process and atmosphere at your usual training time. Ask any remaining questions before choosing a membership.
Start by finding your nearest Top Gym, then compare the current membership and trial options for that location.
